The Ballad of House Draconis is the story of Crown Prince Artos deDraconis, who was born with a birthmark of a crown and dragon on his right shoulder, indicating he is heir to the Dragon Throne of Veda.
The Kingdom of Veda exists roughly two thousand years after a quantum holocaust has transformed the Earth from a world of science and technology into a world of magic. This magic allows people trained in its use to perform many acts through mental control of the quanti. Where once the users of quanti could perform many marvelous actions, the knowledge of the quanti’s use is in decline and much of the knowledge has been lost.
Crown Prince Artos learns his world isn’t exactly what he has been taught when his supposedly impregnable castle is invaded and his father murdered. Forced to flee with his three brothers in the middle of the night, he is captured by “bandits” who turn out not to be what he had been taught and taken to the Crystal Tower, where a Wizard from the past teaches him how to use his dormant magical powers. Artos must then decide if he even wants to be King and accept a political marriage in order to regain his throne and lose what may be the love his heart desires.

Prince Bortis must put aside his suspicions of the Fairborn and serve as Artos’s ambassador to Prince Andune of the Fairborn in an attempt to locate a guide to the Starstone Tower, where Artos hopes to find a weapon to defeat the Abomination that killed their father. Meanwhile, Prince Carimus must undertake a journey deep into the Fairborn lands to seek training from the mysterious mystic known as the Angellar.
